Bronze skies and Industry 4.0/What functions can Industry 4.0 access here and now

The name Industry 4.0 was introduced in 2011 to describe a new trend toward the networking of traditional industries such as manufacturing and it recognises the existence of three previous industrial revolutions - the mechanisation of manufacturing using steam power, the introduction of electric power and the IT revolution. It represents a shift toward self-organising factories, decentralised production and machines able to communicate with each other and with the products and components they are making. Explains how this concept applies to the automation industry. Also says that in the era of integrated industry, individual workpieces will determine for themselves what functions they need production installations to provide.
