Foodpanda receives US$ 20 million funding

Foodpanda, online food delivery marketplace worldwide, has received another US$ 20 million in funding from a group of investors including Phenomen Ventures. With the new investment foodpanda is aiming to continue its global ambitions by rolling out to over 40 markets by the end of Quarter 1. Last year, foodpanda expanded into 20 countries and launched a mobile app for iOS and Android. Following its growth strategy, foodpanda has extended its services into eight more countries including Croatia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tanzania and Uganda in early 2014. Rohit Chadda, managing director and co-founder, India, Foodpanda said, “We are already the largest online food ordering platform globally with over 22,000 restaurants listed on our platform. This round of investment will be utilised to continue our expansion both globally into new markets as well as existing ones. In India, we will further scale up our operations across the country, including tier II and tier III cities and towns in order to reach as many customers as possible.” “Customer service has always remained the key focus for us and we will continue to invest in streamlining our operations to make Foodpanda the most convenient and customer friendly food ordering platform,” he added.
