Reports on Cambridge University Eco Racing's latest vehicle - Resolution - to be developed for the 3,000km World Solar Challenge race from Darwin to Adelaide. This vehicle is a radical departure from its old designs and incorporates space-grade solar panels with sun-tracking capability and a light, highly aerodynamic outer shell. TFC's Spirolox retaining rings are used in two locations on the car - the drive motor where the rings secure the main motor bearings to the non-rotating axle and the front suspension where they hold spherical bearings in place in the wishbone assembly. Resolution has also been sponsored by SKF, running on the company's energy-efficient E2 deep groove ball bearings which have been specially engineered and manufactured to reduce frictional moment by a least 30% compared with standard bearings.
