SMU awarded University in distance learning

Sikkim Manipal University, Directorate of Distance Education (SMU-DE), has won ASSOCHAM’s ‘Best University in Distance/Open Learning’ award as part of the ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry) Awards of Excellence in Education, 2014. ASSOCHAM has been recognizing universities and institutes for best practices in delivering quality education in India, and honouring those who have contributed significantly in improving excellence in education, innovation, research and development in the country. The nominated educational institutes were evaluated on the basis of their innovation, scalability, their ability to overcome challenges and positively contribute to the progress of their students. On receiving the award, Dr Shivram Krishnan, said, “It is a great honour to be recognized by ASSOCHAM for our innovation in content delivery, scalability in reaching out to lakhs of students and overcoming geographical challenges.
