Did not go to Delhi to discuss poll alliance: DMDK president Vijayakanth

Vijayakant360x270 Chennai:  DMDK president Vijayakanth today said his visit to Delhi was not to discuss poll alliance with any political party, but to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister on issues affecting Tamil Nadu. "The visit to Delhi was intended to submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on issues affecting Tamil Nadu, including the harassment faced by fishermen," he told reporters on his arrival in Chennai from the national capital. He declined to speak on electoral alliance that his party is likely to forge. DMDK is being wooed by DMK, BJP and Congress at the same time for a pre-poll alliance for the coming Lok Sabha polls. The memorandum, besides drawing Dr Singh's attention to various issues, had urged him to take up the fishermen's issue with the Sri Lankan government to arrive at a settlement and review the 1974 accord with the neighbouring country, if necessary. The 1974 accord pertains to an agreement between India and Sri Lanka over Katchatheevu Islands.
